Our Story
As a former high school counselor, I have seen first hand how students who had studied and practiced taking the SAT test consistently out-performed those who were less familiar with it.
Unfortunately, in the area where my school was located, the only formal preparation available was a very expensive test prep course, and parents who were unable to afford the steep price tag were unable to provide their children with the opportunity to adequately prepare.
I began tutoring students who asked for help, and that experience further convinced me of the value of quality SAT test preparation. Soon after that, I met with a group of talented educators and colleagues with over 60 years of combined experience in test preparation, study skills, and instructional best practice, and together we developed the curriculum for a comprehensive, 8-session course (click here to see our course outline). I offered my first class to a group of 10 students in 1998, and the feedback was overwhelmingly enthusiastic.
It's been over a decade, and Test Prep Mentor has helped hundreds of students to prepare since that first class. We have continually revised and updated our student manuals to keep up with test changes that have occurred over the years, and we have created our own practice tests for our students who wish to measure their progress.
The most satisfying part of this job is hearing the many remarkable success stories from students who have received acceptance letters from their first choice schools or substantial scholarship help as a result of their high scores.
